Writing Prompts: Silver Linings

I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes

Cliche alert!  Every cloud has a silver lining.  Every rose has its thorn. This is the writing tips part of the post–avoid cliches like the plague!  (Oh, wait…no avoid cliches like you would avoid the thorns on a rose…or like you would avoid beer with caviar.  Then again, maybe you like beer with caviar.)

The prompt is: tell a story of a bad situation with a silver lining, real or made up.

A thunderstorm, the power went out, but….

A collision with another driver who turned out to be….

The horse went lame two days before the end of the journey, which turned out to be very fortunate because….

The test results were bad but look what good came of it….
